Applying to selective schools is stressful. We help families find clarity, build a timeline, and prepare with confidence.

Because curricula differ widely from school to school, and because tests like the ISEE and SSAT span multiple grade levels, students often need to perform above their current grade in math, reading, and grammar to stand out. A clear plan helps young applicants rise to that challenge without losing their enthusiasm.

The Kang Approach

We combine core skill-building, individualized strategy, targeted practice, mock testing, and, maybe most important, mentorship. Motivating ten- to thirteen-year-olds is a different art from working with high schoolers, and our tutors are trained to be warm and patient while still encouraging students to aim high. We will also help you find the right resources and design a study plan that fits your child.

Our Process

  1. Contact us. Reach a director by phone or email, ideally in the spring or summer before your application year.
  2. Take diagnostics. Complete a full-length practice ISEE and SSAT for independent schools, or the SHSAT for specialized public high schools.
  3. Planning conversation. We review the results with you and shape a timeline and set of goals.
  4. Get started. We match your child with a tutor, set the schedule, and arrange regular check-ins and mock exams.
  5. Test more than once. For the ISEE and SSAT, testing two or three times often reveals a student's best performance. The SHSAT is offered once.

Our tutors know all three admissions exams well and have guided students toward both specialized public high schools and selective independent schools. We offer diagnostic testing, one-on-one tutoring, and personalized study plans.
